Cars

This page is just about the cars I/we have owned since passing our driving tests. I still haven't found a decent picture of my Morris Marina yet and I don't think I ever will. But there is a crap picture of it below. I've still got the Morris badge too!!!!

This is Vectra number 2. This is our new baby, it's a Y reg 2.0DTi Vectra which goes exceptionally well and gets 45 mpg. What a result.

We part ex'd that Renault below for this and we think its going to hang around longer than that French piece of crap.

I'll fill you in on it's progress.

This has been given the heave ho now. It's our old Renault Scenic RXE 2.0 16V. It goes really well having a larger engine, but it rolls a lot on corners. This makes you feel like you can't take a corner at a good speed.

I always missed the Vectra and this just had to go due to being a French car that is crap on miles per gallon, crap at cruising on the motorway, crap at being an MPV and crap at being a car.

The bloody central locking on both doors had to be replaced (by me) owing to them screwing up. Renault main dealer wanted £200 + vat each for these so I found some at a breakers for £20 and they did the job. Bloody rip off.

The Vectra.

This is the Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 litre GLS 16V Injection. It was quite good to drive but really tears away from junctions if your not careful. Leaving Most of the tyres behind too.

This car has "BITTEN THE DUST" as it was due to clock the 100,000 miles so I part ex'd it against a RENAULT SCENIC, see above.

The next one was the best out of the lot, and we never had any trouble with it. As far as I can remember. A Vauxhall Cavalier 1.6GL. This had a little more poke than the Daihatsu and was a lot more comfortable. This lasted us ages until we part-ex'd it for a Vectra.

Jo and I decided to sell the Escort and just use her car. A cool Daihatsu Charade 1.0L. This was quite a nippy car considering it only had three cylinders in the engine. This one was also blessed with loads of spotlights. We kept this going for ages until everything started to go wrong with it. That's when we part-ex'd it at Tony Embrey's garage in Bayston Hill. We had some cash (not much) knocked off our next car. (See below)

Here we can see my second car. 'Twas a Ford Escort and it went like poo off a spade. I liked to call it a XR1.3L because it was only a 1.3L but I put a spoiler on the back and loads of spotlights, even a set of airhorns.

This little beauty went off to some bloke in Shrewsbury for £700 when I sold it. (Good deal, considering there was no floor in it)

Well, I've found a picture of my old Morris Marina. I was hoping to find a good picture but to quote an entry in the old guestbook."I think you'll be looking long and hard to find a decent picture". He was right. I can't even find a picture of the filler on the wings that looked like it had been applied with a garden fork.

Two memories spring to mind about this car. One was when I jumped a humpback bridge & split the petrol tank and the other is when I tried to stop me & my mate getting a beating. Matt should remember that one. Driving down the A49 in pitch darkness with the lights turned off. (Not recommended).
