This page is about the collection of model and toy vehicles that I have. All based around the Batman Theme.
One
of the first toys I bought was an '89 Batmobile with the Cocoon which
enshrouds the 'mobile to defend it from attack. I paid about £13
for this one.
This
die cast model of the Batmobile was one of my faves and I had to buy a
couple of them in the end after the first one was vandalised in a malicious
attack whilst at Tech. I think that it cost around £2 for each of
these.

On
the left is one of the best bargains I have ever had, it was £1
from a car boot sale. It's in an alright state, but it's nowhere near
mint. I've also got one with the boat that I am very fond of. I remember
smashing these to bits on the playground when I was at primary school.
(Oh dear!!!)
This
is the Batboat from the other Corgi Batmobile set. I Paid £45 for
the boat and a 'mobile at a Birmingham toy fair.
At
about the same time as I bought the 'mobile and Batboat my wife bought
me the Batcopter. It was from a toy fair at Telford Moathouse and cost
it £12. It was only after a little while that I realised there were
two rotors missing from it. The hook and string is still there though.
This
is a cool 'mobile as it is still in it's original box, I think it dates
from around 1978 and I paid £10 for this at a Birmingham toyfair.
I
have two more of these, see below.
These
two little Batmobiles are both Corgi Juniors and I bought them at a car
boot sale. One was 25p and the other 50p. You can't see it from this picture
but one of them is more damaged than the other.
This
looks very similar to the Corgi's above but it is a Husky Batmobile and
I also have two of these. I think I paid around a quid for each of them.
The one in the picture is quite badly damaged but the other is a little
better and has both figures in it.
This
is from the '89 film and is the batmobile that I like the most out of
all the designs. This one is in the packet but I did open it once to display
on a shelf in my bat-room. I wish I hadn't though. It cost me £5.99
at John Menzies and is a larger version of the small ERTL 'mobile at the
top of the page.
This
is another Ertl Batmobile based on the Animated Series 'mobile. This is
my second favourite design out of all the batmobs. I think this cost me
about £3.00 from Toys R Us in around '90 or '91.
Toys R Us which I bought for around £24. It's a radio controlled
batmobile from the '89 film and I must admit to running this around the
house for ten minutes before putting it back in the box. I'm just a big
kid really.
This
is a good one, it is the big plastic 'mobile that came out for the animated
series. It's got a good feature where the cockpit shoots out of the back
of the car and turns into a jet of some sort. This one cost me about £25
from Toys R Us. But I think they're worth a little more now.
This
is when the design started getting a bit more flamboyant, and crap. I
don't really like the shape of this Legends Of Batman batmobile, but I
bought it anyway. This was around the same price as the one just above
and from the same well known toy shop. I don't think that there was any
cartoon, film or book to base this 'mobile on, it was just another way
of conning people like me into paying another wad of cash out.
This looks a bit similar doesn't it? That's because it's nearly the same. Everything except the disgusting luminous yellow colour and the box. Another way of ripping me off though I suppose. Same price as the Legends one too. |
This
Batmobile is based on the new Animated Series and is an OK design but
not compared to the '89 Movie 'mobile. This one too, has a firing thingy
on the front which you can gatch people unawares with. This was only £20
I think and I got it from somewhere else, but I can't remember where.
This
batmobile is from the 3rd film Batman Forever and is nearly the crappest
design of all. The only nice thing about it is the way that it lights
up. Quite why someone who likes to blend into the background would drive
a car like Blackpool's Golden Mile I don't know. Notice how this too,
has a firing thingy on the front.
I
really don't like this one at all, It's from Batman & Robin the 4th
film and the worst film. Have you noticed a recurring theme with the weapons
available on the batmobile? Yes that's right a thingy that fires from
the front. How original. This was about £25 from Toys R Us too,
but I had to buy it. Don't ask me why.
This
picture looks nothing like a Batmobile but it is, it's from the Batman
Beyond / Batman Of The Future animated series. I haven't seen it in any
of the Batman Beyond's I've seen. I bought this one in particular because
the box is misprinted a little. The BATMAN text is in a silver foil effect
but it is not placed on the black BATMAN as it should be.
Another
Batmobile added to my collection just after Batman Forever was realeased
was this. It is a water powered Super Soaker Batmobile. You get a foot
pump in the box and proceed to pump up the pressure until the water sprays
out of the back forcing the 'mobile forward. I've never used this one,
I just do the lemonade bottle trick with my car foot pump.
This
set is from the '89 Batman Movie. It is a very small set of a Batmobile,
a Batwing and a Joker van. It cost me £3.99 in John Menzies in 1989
and I think that it is a really good little part of my collection. There
are more Joker Vans down the page.
This
is the BatFlieger from the animated series, I think it is a German toy
which I picked up from the sunday market for a reasonable price. I suspect,
with my German not being up to much, that it means something like BatFlyer.
Correct me if I'm wrong please. This cost about £5.00
This
is a nice little set of 5 vehicles from the Batman Forever range of toys.
It contains a Batmobile, Batwing, Batboat, Two Face's Armored Car and
a special Riddler Car. The Riddler car was not in the film but it is a
nice little touch to the set. Jo (my wife) bought me this for christmas
in '95 I think. They would look lovely in a display cabinet but I don't
want to take them out of the box.
This
car ties in with the Animated series and is Bruce Wayne's personal car.
It has very old styling on it and looks very nice. I think this was about
£4.00 from Toys R Us, back in '90-'91. It is nice and I have had
this out of the pack to display it on my shelf.
This
is a farty little Ertl Joker Van from the '89 movie and I don't like it
much as it is basically the model Postman Pat van with a different paintcolour
and a sticker. I don't really like this one much, but it is Bat related
so I had to buy it.
This
is a bigger Joker Van and cost me £1.99 from somewhere I don't remember.
It is a lot better than the one pictured above as it is the right shape
and not a reject from the Postman Pat factory. I bought it for £1.99
and this is an excellent price. I didn't buy it in '89 but a lot later
from a bargain bucket, I think.
This
isn't so much a toy, as a collectible. It was an '89 Batmobile Telephone.
I bought it at a car boot sale for £2 or something like that. Unfortunately
I don't have it any longer 'cos it was sold when we did a car boot sale.
I wish we never had to give that away for £5.
Not so much a toy as a model, is this Airfix style model of the Forever Batmobile. I also have the matching Batboat and Batwing. They didn't take long to make but they do look good. They fill up with dust quite quickly too.
This badboy is the Tumbler from Batman Begins and yes it does come in black. This is a large model made by hotwheels and comes a close second to the '89 Batmobile as my list of favourite Batman Vehicles go.
